There is too much to do right now. Not all of it is paid work however, but it needs to be done nevertheless. Here is some of the things on my mind right now:

Rebranding my work gig

My girlfriend and I are going to be re-forming my business and doing it properly this time. Everything is to be redesigned and rewritten, so we can restart this whole circus. Hoping it will be a fresh start for us (for me especially).

Finish off this site

It’s done, but there are many things I want to tweak like adding some (custom) way to push updates to Facebook, figure out if I’m going to post every single thing here or portion off this website into sections like code.adamtrickett.com or photos.adamtrickett.com or even braindump.adamtrickett.com. Even if I don’t decide to do that, then I still have other maintenance tasks to take care of.

Build our scout groups website

I’ve bought the domain name, installed WordPress, and thats about it. I have half an idea of what I want it to look like, but I’m seriously lacking time to myself.

Build my own software

I’m currenly building my own shopping cart as well as a whole lot of other wordpress plugins because I’m only just beginning to realise that I’m recycling a LOT of code! I’m doing everything properly this time (writing documentation, coding cleanly, making the user interface intuitive). Lots of work, especially as I have about 3 plugins on the go at the moment. That said, maybe I might be able to sell them?

Finish setting up the network

Mostly done. I have a laptop that I’ve yet to clean and put Windows 7 on (too busy removing cat hair from the keyboard…long story). I have a backup set up to an external drive, but my paranoid inner voice says that not enough. Again, need time for this one.

Set up something to handle projects

Gut instinct says go for a project management app or tool, but I think I may need something simpler. Danielle (my girlfriend) is going to need to work from graphic design briefs and they fall outside of the typical project management app mould. I will also need to manage this app with the limited time I have, so something simple would be great. I’m curently using a vanilla install of WordPress so I can ‘just write’. Calling it SaltMine for now. I use 88Miles for time tracking and its working out for me, so I’ll keep using that.

Market my business

Guess what? I haven’t marketed my business before….ever. For a while we were lucky to have a roof over our heads (seriously at times, things were real bad). Things are OK now, but thats all: just OK. Now that I’ve got some things sort of sorted out, things are slowly slotting into place. I have regular work, but not enough (at least not enough to satisfy my paranoid mind when it comes to worrying about when it will all dry up). I have a few simple ideas on what I want to do, but I have to wait until we’ve rebranded.

Actaully work

And yeah I actually have to do some paid work in amongst all that.

So yeah, lots of stress. I have lots on my mind right now, yet thats only the half I can put into words. Theres more stuff in there, I just don’t know how to get it out.

I think I’ll go chill out with a coffee now. I probably need it!
